3 U of M faculty elected to the Institute of Medicine

The University of Michigan Health System announced that three faculty members have been elected to the Institute of Medicine, an “honor considered one of the most prestigious in the health and medical field”, UMHS media reports.

Pictured from left to right, the U of M faculty are John M. Carethers, MD, with the Department of Internal Medicine, John O. DeLancey, MD, with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Martin A. Philbert, MD, with the Department of Toxicology and the dean of the School of Public Health.

The Institute of Medicine elects new members through a selective process conducted by current members, and membership “recognizes individuals who have made major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care, and public health.”
