While medical and dentistry school students have been in class since Monday the Schools of Public Health and Nursing and the College of Pharmacy, along with the rest of the schools and colleges at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor campus begin class tomorrow.  (Please read this message from Provost Martha Pollack about attendance policies for tomorrow’s start date.)   UMHS wants staff, students, and faculty to stay healthy this winter semester and has a list of helpful ways to avoid spreading illness during cold, flu, and GI virus season.  The simplest way is to remember to Cover Your Cough.  UM Student Life also has tips to stay well this semester: including getting plenty of sleep, drinking water and fluids to stay hydrated, and making sure you take time out of your day to relax.   If you do happen to get sick this semester and need to visit a doctor, don’t be afraid of the terminology.  Become a more empowered patient by reviewing common medical terms and be sure to ask your physician follow-up questions regarding medications and treatment suggestions.  Back to School it is, happy winter 2014 semester to all!
