I have recently been given a tremendous opportunity to attend the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN) 2013 Management Academy. The TRLN is a collaborative organization between Duke University, North Caroline Central University, North Carolina State University, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that works to leverage financial, human and information resources. The Management Academy is an experiential learning experience designed for mid-level library managers (that’s me!) to develop skills in diverse resource management.
I have already completed some homework assignments related to change management and a Harvard Business Review case on Ryanair. I look forward to applying the things that I learn during this week to the work that I do at the Taubman Health Sciences Library and the MLibrary@NCRC. Entering my fourth year as the Research and Informatics Coordinator, I will use this program to ensure that we are truly delivering novel and needed information services to further the mission of the University of Michigan.
I arrived today at the Rizzo Conference Center here at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and look forward to sharing what I learn. I won’t lie. It is beautiful, and the flowers smell wonderful!
