Faculty around the world assign their students to contribute to Wikipedia for class assignments. This information session introduces the Wikimedia Foundation’s Wikipedia Education Program and shows how faculty can use Wikipedia as a platform for students to publish articles and edit articles based on course assignments. We will also show you how to design Wikipedia-based assignments, and tell you how you can find campus support for using Wikipedia and wiki-based assignments in your courses.
A workshop will follow the information session. There will be time for more questions and participants will get hands-on experience editing Wikipedia and designing Wikipedia-based assignments. Attending the information session is not required to participate in the workshop.
The information session and workshop will be led by Jami Mathewson. Jami is an Education Program Associate at Wikimedia Foundation where she focuses on coordinating volunteer initiatives and activities in support of the Wikipedia Education Program.
The event is free, but space is limited so reserve your spot today. Lunch will be provided for information session participants. Register today!
