In December 2011, the WHO Regional Office for Africa, the Stimson Center, and the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services co-hosted a workshop to highlight the implementation of the revised International Health Regualtions in the context of the regional Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response Strategy. this workshop took place in conjuction with teh 4th Scientific Conference hosted by the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) in Dar es Salamm, Tanzania.
Participants shared their perspectives on progress toward implementation of IDSR/IHR in sub-Saharan Africa. The workshop helped frame the case for sustainable investment in integrated disease surveillance and response from the community to the national levels.
