Environmental Assessment of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks: New from the CDC

The CDC, along with EHS.net, the USDA, and others, has produced a new e-learning course on food safety:   Environmental Assessment of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks.

This course provides training on how to use a systems approach in foodborne-illness-outbreak environmental assessments (FIOEAs). Participants learn in-depth skills and knowledge required to:

  1. Investigate foodborne illness outbreaks as a member of a larger outbreak response team.
  2. Identify an outbreak’s contributing factors and underlying factors (environmental antecedents).
  3. Recommend appropriate control measures.

The course is free and consists of self-paced, interactive multimedia instruction delivered over the Internet.
