Actually, it isn’t so much that National Institute of Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and Pubmed are changing as that you might need to change what browser you use to access them. As of January 1, 2013, NCBI will no longer support Internet Explorer version 7 or Firefox version 3. More information is available at the NCBI information page on supported browsers.

If you aren’t sure if your browser needs to be updated, you might want to check with your technical support staff. If you are in UMHS, that would be MCIT; if you are in the Medical School, that would be MSIS/MSAIS.

Aside from the all-important Pubmed, other databases effected may include other popular resources, such as NCBI Bookshelf, PubMed Central, PubMed Health, BLAST, Nucleotide, Genome, SNP, Gene, Protein, and PubChem. Please check this complete list of NCBI’s resources impacted by this change.
